JACKSON, Mich. — The Jackson County Chamber of Commerce would like to congratulate Jackson Public School (JPS) on their Ribbon Cutting on Tuesday, May 21. The event took place at the Middle School at Parkside 2400 4th St Jackson, MI 49203. JPS celebrated the Laundry Initiative and installation of a brand new industrial-sized washer and dryer in the middle school and Jackson High School.
The Laundry Initiative project was funded from a $2,500 donation from CP Federal Credit Union and other donations from community members and organizations. The laundry rooms make it convenient for coaches to wash uniforms, but this initiative also teaches children life skills and gives children access to a service often taken for granted. Besides a washer and dryer, there is laundry detergent and other donated supplies.
"JPS is committed to provide this service in all JPS buildings by 2022. JPS is grateful for the community support of this initiative. It is proof that JPS is truly “Where Community Comes Together” #Believethehype.” said Kriss Giannetti, JPS Director of Communications.
JPS is still accepting cash donations and laundry supplies. In addition, a separate JPS Laundry Initiative Endowment Fund has been created at the Jackson Community Foundation to help assist with the sustainability of this program as well as the addition of laundry rooms in all JPS buildings.
If you have any questions about this event or would like to donate to the sustainability fund, contact Jackson Public Schools’ Director of Communications, Kriss Giannetti, at (517) 841-2148 or email her at kriss.giannetti@jpsk12.org.
