Jolly Road Homicide Investigation

LANSING, Mich. — On 12/7/20 at approximately 1:20 a.m. Lansing Police were dispatched to the 4200 block of W. Jolly Rd. on a shots fired complaint. Upon arrival officers located a 20 year old female (victim) who was not injured.

The victim stated she and her boyfriend were sitting in a vehicle at the residence and were approached by four males (suspects). The males were armed with firearms and demanded the victim out of the vehicle. Once outside of the vehicle the victim heard several shots being fired, and then saw the suspects run away. The victim was not able to locate her boyfriend and called for police.

The suspects are described as: black males all in their 20’s. The suspects may have left the area in a silver sedan vehicle.

Investigating officers located and recovered evidence of a shooting at the scene. Officers contacted residences in the area, checked for the four suspects and the victim’s boyfriend. Officers were not able to locate the suspects or the boyfriend.

Follow-up: At approximately 6:15 a.m. Lansing Police were dispatched to the 4200 block of W. Jolly Rd. on a check subject call. Responding officers were advised there was an unresponsive male lying near the shoulder of the road. [more] Upon arrival officers located a deceased male subject with an unknown injury. The subject was identified as the previous victim’s missing boyfriend (32 year old male / victim). On scene Officers, Detectives, and Crime Scene Investigators are currently working this homicide.

The investigation is in the preliminary stages and ongoing. Limited information is available at this time. Details are subject to change and updated when they become available.
