Many people with disabilities had a chance to ski for the first time on Saturday morning.
More than 20 people who wouldn’t normally be able to ski could finally hit the slopes thanks to the Adaptive Downhill Ski Clinic at Cannonsburg Ski Area in Cannon Township.
The annual event is part of a partnership between the Cannonsburg Challenged Ski Association, Mary Free Bed, and Kentwood Parks and Recreation.
President of the Cannonsburg Challenged Ski Association, Josh Szymanski, told FOX 17 it’s a chance for participants to get out and enjoy winter in a way they may have thought wasn't possible. The event couldn’t be done without dozens of volunteers, Szymanski said.
The association has sessions on Sundays, as well as three nights throughout the week.
