A suspect is now in custody after reports of gunfire were made in Kalamazoo.
Kalamazoo police arrived on South Rose Street Monday afternoon where they followed witness descriptions of vehicles that were allegedly involved in the gunfire, according to Kalamazoo Public Safety.
An officer found one of the vehicles, which KPS says was already stopped. The vehicle’s only occupant seemed to have been grazed by a gunshot wound, they say.
A firearm was reportedly discovered inside the vehicle. Both the weapon and the vehicle were determined to be stolen, according to KPS.
After receiving medical attention, the 24-year-old suspect from Kalamazoo was taken to the Kalamazoo County Jail on weapons charges and for receiving and concealing a vehicle.
KPS believes others are involved. If you have information, you are asked to call Silent Observer at 269-343-2100 or the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety at 269-488-8911.
