Grand Valley State University has canceled this semester’s study abroad programs in South Korea due to coronavirus.

The school said one student currently in South Korea will return to the U.S. soon. GVSU doesn’t have any programs to China, Italy, Japan or South Korea for the spring/summer semester.

Earlier this month, GVSU suspended its programs in China for the winter and summer semesters.

The school says it has implemented additional screening for anyone who recently traveled internationally.

There haven’t been any confirmed cases of the virus in Michigan to this point. Since the end of January, Michigan’s health departments have had to monitor 347 people who were classified as “medium risk.”
