Local school program recognized by state

Posted

Holt public schools have something to be proud of on Wednesday.

The Kendal's Kids Kindness Club is being recognized as a winning program.

A ceremony is being held at 9 AM at Sycamore Elementary School to announce the excellence award.

They will be receiving a $2500 Education Excellence Award, picked from almost 200 nominees statewide.

The money is a grant from the SET SEG Foundation, in partnership with the Michigan Association of School Boards.

The award honors work that created opportunities for their students to build stronger, brighter futures.

Kendal's Kids' Kindness Club at Sycamore Elementary works to inspire kids and teachers to create experiences to "deepen their understanding of civility and kindness."

"It's an honor for us to recognize these schools and educators, and help support and advance their efforts," said Lisa Truscott, SET SEG Foundation Executive Director. "Dedicated, passionate teachers and staff in public schools are what help provide opportunities to learn, grow and build brighter, stronger futures for students and our communities and state."

The winning program will also receive an "Education Excellence Winner" road sign and trophy.

The SET SEG Foundation is a branch of SET SEG and is fueled by its mission to enable students to pursue enrichment opportunities that advance learning, leadership and civic responsibility by providing services, scholarships, grants and financial support directly to Michigan public schools and Michigan public school students.
