JACKSON, Mich. — CrossBraining, a video-based skill and knowledge assessment app, was recently awarded the “SmartZone Best Small Business Award” from Michigan Celebrates Small Business (MCSB). MCSB awardees, guests and small business supporters gathered virtually for the 16th Annual Gala, which was held on Tuesday, July 28.
Each Michigan SmartZone selects a company to be recognized as a Best Small Business awardee for demonstrating growth through technology commercialization, a strong relationship with the SmartZone organization, and significant success as a company. The Lean Rocket Lab and the Enterprise Group of Jackson nominated CrossBraining for the 2020 Award.
"The entire community has really helped CrossBraining grow," said Josh Nichols, founder and CEO of CrossBraining. "In particular the local teachers who invited us into their classrooms and the vibrant tech community cultivated by the Lean Rocket Lab have been instrumental to our growth and adoption."
The CrossBraining app, developed by Nichols, allows students to capture their learning process through video storytelling. CrossBraining is a startup client of the Lean Rocket Lab and is one of 15 businesses to receive the SmartZone Best Small Business Award from MCSB.
“Considering how vital remote learning has become in the current educational climate, CrossBraining has emerged as a critical solution that is capable of delivering hands on learning, virtually,” said Brandon Marken, founder and CEO of the Lean Rocket Lab. “It’s such an important problem to be working on right now, we’re really proud of their team.”
The MCSB Awards recognize businesses in a variety of industries and fields whose growth supports Michigan’s economy.
