Students from all over Mid-Michigan come to the Wilson Talent Center in Mason to train for future careers. In this edition of Schools Rule, FOX 47's Lora Painter looks at students training to work in the medical fields.
Makenzie Lytle, a junior at Dansville High School, said, "When I was little I knew that i wanted to be doctor or a nurse."
The health foundations class is where future nurses and doctors can train in real-world scenarios, from bathing patients to checking vital signs, all while showing good bedside manner and making patients feel safe and informed.
Sarah Morgan, health sciences specialist and instructor, said, "We talk about respect, we talk about responsibility, we talk about attendance-- going above and beyond, not just the status quo because employers don't want employees that just show up and do the minimum amount of work."
Students also get to job shadow local medical professionals and that real world inspiration can really give them a competitive edge.
