EATON COUNTY, Mich. — On Friday, Dec. 27, 2019, Eaton County Circuit Court judge, Judge Maurer sentenced Neal Prince to life without parole for the murder of a man from Detroit, a murder that happened over a year ago.
On Dec. 14, 2018, Lansing Police began investigating a murder after finding a dead body at a residence in the 3600 block of Bayview in Lansing.
The deceased was 28-year-old Donovan Barfield who died from a gunshot wound.
Neal Prince,Lansing, was in custody on an unrelated crime when he was connected to the murder and arrested.
He was arraigned on two counts:
Count No. 1: Homicide – Open Murder
Count No. 2: Weapons - Felony Firearm
He was sentenced to first degree felony murder.
An alleged accomplice, 15-year old Willie Lee Fletcher of Lansing, is facing murder and felony firearms charges in the death of Barfield.
