The man who caused an evacuation at Lansing Community College last fall is headed to jail.
On Wednesday, Damian Walker was sentenced to six months in jail and three years probation for making threats on social media that he was going to shoot up the school. Walker was given credit for 58 days served.
The 20 year old pleaded guilty in March to one county of making a false report of terrorism.
Police evacuated campus after learning about the threats on November 29th. The person who reported it to police said Walker texted him and told him not to go to class that day. He also claimed Walker told him to watch the news at 3 p.m to see what he was about to do. Authorities say Walker also posted videos on Snapchat of himself loading an A.R 15, with thousands of rounds on the floor.
Police later found a loaded A.R 15 and ammunition at Walker's apartment.
The Judge rejected Walker's request to be sentenced under the Holmes Youthful Trainee Act, which would mean the conviction would be wiped from his record if he successfully completed probation.
Walker told the judge he hopes other people learn from his mistakes.
"I just hope that when others look at my life, and look at what's happened because of my own actions, that it might stop somebody else from saying or doing the same thing that I did," he said.
