LANSING, Mich. — Grand Rapids-based Pasta Per Trio, the Michigan franchisee of Noodles & Company (Noodles) , known and loved for serving classic noodle, Zoodle and Caulifloodle dishes from around the world, announced today that it will partner with No Kid Hungry® for the 5th consecutive year to help end childhood hunger in America.
Since 2018, Michigan Noodles restaurants and guests have contributed nearly $40,000 to No Kid Hungry®, the equivalent of approximately 400,000 meals. As one of the leading restaurant partners to No Kid Hungry®, Noodles & Company has raised over $2 million nationally over the last five years. Due to the coronavirus, the rate of childhood hunger has nearly doubled from its pre-pandemic rate. In fact, 1 in 4 children could face hunger this year. Noodles & Company and their guests will work together again this year to raise critical funds to help feed these children.
By donating $2 to the nonprofit campaign at participating Michigan Noodles restaurants from September 4 through October 15, guests will receive a coupon for a free Shareable item to enjoy on their next visit. In addition, Noodles Rewards members will also receive a bonus 350 rewards points for donating. Each $2 donation can provide up to 20 healthy meals for kids in need.
Locally, the No Kid Hungry® campaign supports the Carson City-Crystal Area School District.
Studies by No Kid Hungry® indicate that one in six kids experiences hunger on a regular basis and that 95 percent of teachers believe hunger impacts their students’ ability to succeed. In addition, 77 percent of teachers directly correlate hunger with poor academic performance. With the start of the academic year, Noodles believes there is no better time than now to support families struggling to afford enough food for their families.
“The pandemic has brought to greater light the inequities, like food insecurity, that many Michigan children face,” said Tom Shepard, Vice President of Pasta Per Trio. “We don’t believe any child in Michigan should be hungry and we’re proud to offer our guests an opportunity to give back while they enjoy the great flavors Noodles & Company is known for.”
Guests can donate to No Kid Hungry® by ordering online, through the Noodles Rewards app or in-person. After donating, guests will receive a coupon for a free shareable (a $5 value), which can be used on their next visit. As an added bonus, Noodles Rewards members who donate $2 online or via the app will also receive an additional 350 points to their Rewards account, redeemable towards exciting rewards such as free delivery. Lansing area Noodles locations can be found on East Grand River and West Grand River in Okemos.
