LANSING, Mich. — The State of Michigan reported 5,937 new COVID-19 cases and 182 deaths on Thursday. That brings the total number of cases to 421,137 and the total number of deaths from COVID-19 to 10,395.
Only 50 of the deaths announced today occurred since the last report, as 132 of the reported deaths were identified during a review of vital records.
The State of Michigan surpassed 400,000 total cases of COVID-19 on Monday, just less than nine months after the first cases were confirmed on March 10.
The 400,000 case mark came on the same day that Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced the COVID-19 restrictions would be extended for 12 more days until Dec. 20.
