LANSING, Mich. — Michigan reported another 7,146 new cases of COVID-19 yesterday and 175 new deaths, the state announced on Thursday.

Of those deaths, 112 were identified during a vital records review.

The state could pass 400,000 total cases by the end of the weekend.

That brings the total number of COVID-19 cases to 380,343 and the total number of deaths to 9,580 since the pandemic began.

The number of cases have gone down in the past week, the state said during a press conference Thursday, but does expect hospitalizations to increase in the coming weeks due to the holidays.

As of Wednesday, there were around 198,500 active cases of the virus.
