Fans will be able to attend high school sports games starting Tuesday thanks to the Michigan Supreme Court’s ruling that struck down Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s recent executive orders.
That’s three days earlier than one of Whitmer’s orders would have allowed, according to new MSHAA guidance Tuesday.
The only immediate change to past guidance is the crowd or gathering size allowed.
Instead of two guests per participant, the new rules will allow for up to 30 percent of outdoor seating capacity.
There will still be a limit of no more than 1,000 spectators.
Indoor venues may seat up to 20 percent capacity or up to 500 spectators.
If tickets to a game are sold in advance, they must be split evenly between the home and visiting teams.
Social distancing will need to be followed at all times, except for athletes actively participating in their sport, and masks will still be required.
