Data from the U.S. Department of Labor shows that Michigan had 81,312 new claims for unemployment benefits, down from last week’s level of 136,707.
While the weekly numbers continue to drop, the total number of current unemployment claims in Michigan continues to be huge, at 899,362 this week.
Still, that’s down from the previous week at 937,520.
The country as a whole saw 3.8 million new claims for benefits this week.
A new survey says that millions of people have given up trying to file for unemployment.
