LANSING, Mich. — There will be no preseason games for the MSU football team, but they will hold their first intra squad scrimmage this Friday.

The Spartans are loaded with returning talent that also have plenty of playing experience.

Seniors like Joe Backie, Raquan Williams, Kenny Willekes and Quarterback Brian Lewerke know that this is their opportunity to leave a legacy at MSU and the group is working together to ensure they can do just that.

"You know it's a team effort and a group effort. We know what's on the line this year and what's at stake. We're playing for a Big Ten championship and we're practicing like it every day," Kenny Willekes said.

"How people remember you will be how your season season went. That's how they say hey 2019 that was a good year and they will remember the senior class of that year. That's kind of our focus as a senior class and as a whole team is just make this year the best year we can," Brian Lewerke said.

The Spartans first game will be on Aug. 30 at 7 p.m.
