The new East Lansing Police Chief will be sworn in to his new job this afternoon.
Jeff murphy's service with ELPD dates back to 1987.
For the last six months Murphy has served as the department's interim chief and before that was deputy chief.
With his many years in East Lansing, Murphy isn't too worried about his new title.
Murphy will be sworn in as the department's new police chief at 2:30 p.m. this afternoon, at the Hannah Community Center on Abbot Road in East Lansing.
