Notable bills signed by Gov. Snyder during his 8 years

LANSING, Mich. — Gretchen Whitmer is sworn in as Michigan's 49th Governor on Tuesday.

She is replacing Governor Rick Snyder, who has been in that hot seat for the past 8 years.

During that time, he signed several bills into law.

One of them led Michigan to be the first state in the U.S. to expand Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act when Snyder signed the expansion bill into law back in 2013.

The expansion has since grown to half a million people living in Michigan.

In the fall of 2015, he signed a long-term funding plan aimed at fixing Michigan's roads.

The plan pumped an extra $1.2 billion per year into the roads by 2021, but the increase in funding has proved not enough as the governor signed several one- time cash funding bills into law since then.

Most recently, Governor Snyder signed bills that significantly scaled back Michigan's minimum wage and paid sick leave laws.
