A nurse in Kalamazoo was recently caught on video singing to a hospice care patient and the patient's family says the song gave him the strength to keep fighting.
When the Lytle family's 85-year-old father, Robert, started to have trouble breathing, they did not think he would ever make it home from Bronson Hospital.
But then nurse Brenda Buurstra began singing to Robert, and his entire demeanor changed.
"If you listen to the video, you can hear him trying to sing at the very end. But it changed him. It was like, like he knew he was going to go home," Roberta Lytle said of her father.
A week later, Robert's health improved enough for him to be released from the hospital.
Nurse Brenda says she's been singing to patients for 14 years but this is the first time she was ever caught.
