Protesters gathered at the Capitol Monday afternoon to urge electors to “reject President-elect,” Donald Trump.

Gathered in the freezing temperatures, dozens of people gathered at the Capitol’s steps to urge the 16 electors to not cast their votes for Trump. As they were heading inside the Capitol Building, they began to chant “Electors reject President-elect.”

Many of the protesters held handmade signs, with sayings such as “Love Trumps Hate,” “Dump Trump,” “Be a hero Go Rogue,” and “Don’t Putin Trump.”

According to our sister station WXYZ, it is possible in other states for electors to vote against their own party, but in Michigan the elector could be removed from their position. It is expected that all 16 electors will cast their vote for Trump.
