A Medicare community event is scheduled for October 17 and the public is invited.
LAFCU is hosting the event which will offer an informational seminar from 6-8 p.m. that is free and open to the public.
This isn't a event designed to discuss individual plans but more of an educational, "Medicare 101" type of event.
“There’s so much information people need to know before they are required to sign up for Medicare,” said Kelli Ellsworth Etchison, LAFCU chief marketing officer. “It can be daunting, so LAFCU wanted to help those in our community who can benefit from learning more before they need to make these important decisions.”
People that should attend are those approaching 65 years of age, the age of eligibility for the federal health care insurance program, including those transitioning from employer health insurance coverage.
It will provide information about Medicare options and costs, and when people should sign up for it.
Leading the seminar is Brian Shepard, financial advisor with Financial Technology Inc., East Lansing. He will also answer general questions from attendees.
