LANSING, Mich. — The Capital Area Humane Society (CAHS) is excited to announce that they found homes for 490 pets during the month of October.

This is the highest number of pet adoptions during a single month at the Capital Area Humane Society, with 154 cats, 150 kittens, 114 dogs, 54 puppies, 8 rabbits, 8 guinea pigs, 1 bird, and 1 chinchilla finding forever homes. On average, 258 pets are adopted each month. Previously, the highest adoption month was in October of 2014, with a total of 461 pets.

“We are thrilled to have found homes for 490 pets during the month of October, especially during a time that has been difficult for so many people and organizations alike.” said Julia Willson, President and CEO. “This milestone wouldn’t have been possible without the hardworking staff and volunteers, and of course, the adopters who welcomed new pets into their home.”
