LANSING, Mich. — The Michigan Supreme Court shared bar exam statistics on Wednesday, showing Western Michigan University Cooley Law School had a low passing rate.
The court shared the information in a tweet, with a link to the statistics comparing Michigan law school students' passes and failures in the bar exam in July.
Western Michigan University Thomas M. Cooley Law School had a passing rate of 38 percent, with 62 percent failing, according to the statistics.
Of 149 student exams, 46 percent of the 76 first-time takers passed and 54 percent failed. After reapplying, 30 percent passed and 70 percent failed, with 73 testing.
Other Michigan law schools fared much better, according to the report.
At Michigan State University, 84 percent of students passed and 16 percent failed out of 141 students.
The University of Michigan had 92 percent who passed, with only 8 percent failing out of 36 total.
Another university with a high failure rate is the University of Detroit-Mercy, according to the results.
It shows that out of 73 students, 60 percent passed and 40 percent failed.
