LANSING, Mich. — A new beach and park along Grand River opened Wednesday in Lansing.

The grand opening was scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 27 but had to be changed due to weather.

Rotary Park stretches from the Lansing Center to the Shiawassee Street Bridge.

The man-made beach cost 1.8 millions dollars in private donations to construct.

Besides the beach, there's also a lighted forest, an outdoor fireplace, and a place to launch kayaks.

The park is free to the public and open from dawn to dusk.
