The Okemos Board of Education held a meeting Monday at 7:00 p.m. in the Community Conference Room in the Administration Center located at Mt. Hope and Okemos Road.
The Board voted to approve an online petition that's been circulating throughout in Okemos, that calls for the school district to increase safety protocols.
'Secure our Schools' is calling for buzzer camera systems to be installed at the main entry of each building and doors to be locked during the school day.
The petition states that the system may not act as a complete deterrent for individuals who want to get inside a school and harm teachers and students, but it may give precious time for first responders to act.
