During the training camp, the U.S. U-20 team will have two friendlies with Japan, on Aug. 28 and Aug. 31.
"We are so proud of Bria for earning this opportunity," head coach Tom Saxton [msuspartans.com] said. "Having the chance to represent your country is the ultimate honor for an athlete. Bria is an outstanding player who has worked extremely hard, and her call up to the U20s is well-deserved. All of us here with her Spartan soccer family wish her all the best in California."
Schrotenboer, a native of Holland, Michigan, began her rookie season for the Spartans in the team's season-opener on Thursday, Aug. 22. Schrotenboer was one of two freshmen to start in the Spartans' 3-1 victory over Utah Valley and played all 90 minutes on the backline.
The freshman led Midwest United FC to the 2019 U-18/19 Girls Academy Championship and won the U-18/19 Girls Golden Ball as the postseason's best player. She was also named to the Academy Best XI's at the end of the 2018-19 season.
On Aug. 19, Schrotenboer was named to the Big Ten Women's Soccer Preseason Honors list. She was one of three freshmen on the preseason honors list, across the 14 Big Ten schools.
The U-20 Women's National Team camp roster is made up of 20 players, 16 who are currently on youth clubs. Schrotenboer is among the two players who are kicking off their collegiate campaigns this fall, while two players are training on amateur contracts in Germany.
