The incoming State Senate Democratic Caucus named it's leadership positions on Thursday.

Senator Jim Ananich, of Flint was elected Minority Leader, and Senator-elect Stephanie Change, of Detroit, will be Minority Floor Leader.

“With every election comes fresh ideas and perspectives about what we can do to grow and support the communities around our state, and our new caucus members have the talent and energy to do just that,” Sen. Ananich said. “We are excited to be the voices for the more than two million people who voted for Senate Democrats this cycle, and we are excited to get to work.”

“This election, voters came out in record numbers to demand that we take our state in a new direction, and Senate Democrats are ready to answer that call.” Sen.-elect Chang said. “I am honored to work with Leader Ananich and our colleagues, and I am excited to hit the ground running January first to make good on those promises to our residents.”

Senate democrats gained 5 seats in the election but they still trail Republicans by a margin of 22 to 16.
