Shiawassee tornado relief funding approved by State House

Posted
and last updated

Over two months after Governor Gretchen Whitmer declined to declare a state of emergency, the Michigan House has approved a funding bill for tornado relief in Shiawassee county.

A pair of tornadoes damaged four businesses, 16 barns, 22 R.V.s and 94 homes on Mar. 14, 2019.

Officials say it cost about $6 million in damage.

The money would reimburse Shiawasee county agencies spent while responding to the tornadoes.

The funding bill now goes to the state senate.
