LANSING, Mich. — The Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe voluntarily closed Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort, The Slot Palace & Bingo Hall and Saganing Eagles Landing Casino & Hotel on March 16, 2020 to support efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Starting at 10am on May 29 and continuing until 8a.m. on June 1, these facilities will reopen to a limited number of invited guests only. On June 1 at 8 a.m. the facilities will be open to the general public.
The openings will be with a comprehensive health and sanitation plan in place and with some amenities to reopen at later, undetermined dates. At Soaring Eagle, amenities to open at a later date include Aurora Buffet, Siniikaung, Isabellas, Water Lily, valet service, shuttle service, coat check, the spa and salon, the pool and hot tub areas, poker games, tour bus groups and concerts. At Saganing Eagles Landing, amenities to open at a later date include shuttle service, coat check, the pool and the fitness center.
Health and sanitation measures will include the requirement that all team members wear masks that we will provide. Guests will also be required to wear masks that we will provide if they arrive without one. Smoking will not be permitted. Infrared cameras will perform temperature checks at primary guest and team member entrances with non-contact thermometer temperature checks at secondary entrances. Plexiglas partitions will be in place at appropriate interactive areas. Additional hand sanitizer will be available for guests and team members throughout the properties. The frequency of surface sanitation will be increased.
Gaming chips will be sanitized regularly and playing cards will be replaced more frequently. Line markers will be installed on the floor indicating six foot intervals in areas where lines may form, such as at cashier stations, at the hotel front desks and at the ACCESS Loyalty Clubs. Restaurants will have fewer tables available to provide improved social distancing. Self-service beverage stations will now be staffed with team members who will serve guests their drink requests. Every other slot machine will be activated and reduced seating at table games will be in place to enhance social distancing. Bingo seating will be modified to achieve social distancing.
Team member training will include proper wearing of masks, requiring team members to regularly wash or sanitize their hands, and instruction to stay home if not feeling well. Additional training specific to performing certain job duties will also be provided.
Guests will be encouraged to wash or sanitize their hands regularly and to stay home if they do not feel well.
The Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe is promulgating detailed written policies consistent with the substance of this press release that are intended to protect our guests and team members and to help limit the spread of COVID-19.
