GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — As part of its continued efforts to ensure the well-being and safety of its family of associates, customers and communities during the coronavirus pandemic, SpartanNash today announced additional safety measures at each of its 88 company-owned pharmacies in seven states. The additional safety measures will allow store guests to more safely receive CDC recommended vaccinations, administered by a SpartanNash pharmacist.

SpartanNash pharmacists are able to provide vaccinations for flu, Shingrix (Shingles), Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis), Meningococcal, MMR (Measles, mumps and rubella), Prevnar (Pneumococcal 13), Pneumovax (Pneumococcal 23) and HPV.

Participating pharmacies are located in Family Fare, D&W Fresh Market, Martin’s Super Markets, VG’s Grocery, Family Fresh Market, Forest Hills Foods and Econofoods stores in Michigan, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

“Our pharmacies continue to adapt to best respond to our customers’ needs during these uncertain times,” SpartanNash EVP and Chief Merchandising and Marketing Officer Lori Raya said. “These additional safety measures are in line with CDC guidelines and are another way we can provide the personalized care and vaccinations our customers need while ensuring we do all we can to protect them and our pharmacy associates’ well-being and safety.”

To ensure the safety of both store guests and pharmacists, customers will first need to complete a COVID-19 screening questionnaire and immunization screening form. The pharmacist will then administer a contact-free temperature reading, and both the pharmacist and the customer will be required to wear a medical grade face mask, provided by SpartanNash.

Customers can request the immunizations on a walk-up basis or by calling their local SpartanNash pharmacy to schedule an appointment, provided they meet the screening protocol.

In adherence with SpartanNash’s COVID-19 safety and sanitation procedures, pharmacists will also wear gloves and a face shield, and the vaccination area will also be cleaned in between each customer’s immunization.

Since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, SpartanNash pharmacies have adjusted operations to ensure the safety of store guests, offering free, same-day prescription delivery at all company-owned pharmacies [spartannash.com] as well as introducing reserved pharmacy hours for older adults, pregnant women and immunocompromised store guests in Michigan [spartannash.com].

Free, same-day prescription delivery began on April 1 and is available for store guests within a 10-mile radius of their local SpartanNash-owned store, with delivery times varying by location.

In keeping with social distancing guidelines, all deliveries are touchless; the prescription is placed on the porch, and the delivery driver steps back and calls the store guest to let them know it is ready for them to pick up. Once the driver has visual confirmation the prescription has been picked up, they continue their delivery route.
