The man accused of deliberately ramming his car into the Mid-Michigan Physicians Building in Lansing Township appeared in 55th District Court in Mason Friday afternoon.
Derrick DeShawn Carter, a 43-year-old from Lansing, was arraigned on multiple charges including Assault with Intent to Commit Murder. He appeared via video monitor in the courtroom. He appeared agitated during the hearing, shouting and gesturing while the charges were being read. The court recessed briefly, to allow the defendant an opportunity to calm down.
A court officer says the two victims of the accident are still in critical condition. One of the victims is on a breathing tube.
