LANSING, Mich. — Three Michigan universities are taking a stance against the states opioid crisis.
The University of Michigan, Michigan State University and Wayne State University are teaming up with Spectrum Health.
They are working on training more physicians as addiction medicine specialists.
Officials say there are less than 200 specially trained doctors to fight the crisis.
They say the number of opioid related deaths is at an all-time high.
Federal and state sources have granted the program a two year $1,500,000 grant.
