INGHAM COUNTY, Mich. — Everyone knows the theme song, "Bad Boys, Bad Boys, whatcha' gonna do when they come for you?"

And "bad boys" in the area might actually get the chance to find out with the popular TV show, "COPS," coming to Ingham County.

Sheriff Scott Wriggelsworth told FOX 47 News it was his idea, and he's wanted to do something like this for a while so, he ran it by his administrative staff , and called the show.

"And COPS called back," said Wriggelsworth. "And said they would be interested in coming."

Shooting could last up to eight weeks with crews following deputies as they patrol Ingham County. The sheriff says of the hundreds of hours filmed, a few stories from the department will make the air.

"I think its a great opportunity for our agency, our deputies to showcase their talent and how we police our community on a professional basis each and every day. I think they're excited about it."

He says so far the agency seems pretty excited, but deputies can opt out if they want to.

"This is the stuff that we do. You know, we go to these tragic situations, we make police traffic stops, we get in foot chases. That's what cops do not just here but all across the country," he said. "It's just a way for us to show the level of service we provide to the community."

Sheriff Wriggelsworth says he ultimately can decide what makes the cut for TV, but added in today's day and age, everything is recorded anyway.

"It'll show what we do, and there's no secrets there."

The Lansing Police Department was previously featured on an episode in 2008.

Wriggelsworth said if nothing changes that the show is expected to begin filming in July.
