CHARLOTTE, Mich. — Wednesday the Barry-Eaton District Health Department (BEDHD) announced it is offering the flu vaccine with no out-of-pocket cost at both the Charlotte and Hastings office locations.
The department stated widespread flu vaccination can reduce the spread of flu during the COVID-19 pandemic and prevent serious illness and related hospitalizations or deaths. A flu vaccination can reduce the chance of becoming infected with both flu and COVID-19 at the same time.

Those with insurance are asked to consider going to a pharmacy or health care provider for flu vaccines to allow for these clinics to use the supplies for community members without insurance.
Face coverings are required at all events. Upon arrival, individuals will be screened for COVID-19 symptoms at the door. All vaccine is quadrivalent and protects against four strains of flu. High-dose vaccines that are typically recommended for adults 65 years and older will not be available at the clinics.
