LANSING, Mich. — This afternoon the Ingham County Prosecutor formally charged the arrested 31 year old homicide suspect (8/3/20 – 3400 block of Pleasant Grove). He was subsequently arraigned in 54-A District court in front of Magistrate Millmore on the following charges:
Zacharey Leigh Diederichs (31 yrs. / Lansing, MI)
CHARGE:
Count 1: Homicide – Open Murder
Count 2: Assault with intent to Murder
Count 3: Weapons – Firearms – Possession by a Felon
Count 4: Weapons – Felony Firearm
Count 5: Weapons – Felony Firearm
Count 6: Weapons – Felony Firearm
Count 7: Weapons – Felony Firearm
Habitual Offender – Fourth Offense
BOND: Remanded / No bond

Lansing Police Department (LPD) and Michigan State Police (MSP) Detective team continue to investigate this shooting/homicide. The 31 year old homicide victim has been identified as; Steven Lee Jackson (former Lansing, MI. current - Atlanta, Georgia). The 32 year old shooting victim remains in critical condition at a local hospital with life threatening injuries.
Based on witnesses and evidence, LPD Officers and investigators developed a lead on the suspect in this shooting/homicide. The detailed description and information was relayed to assisting patrol officers. A LPD officer spotted the suspect not far from the crime scene. The officer made contact, positively identified the man as the described suspect, and arrested him without incident. The 31 year old Lansing man was lodged at the LPD Detention facility.
LPD and MSP investigation team continues to work at determining the circumstances that lead up to the shooting/homicide. The team is asking for anyone with information to come forward. The smallest piece of information can lead to a major part of the investigation. On 08/03/2020 at 6:35 pm Lansing Police Department and Lansing Fire Department were dispatched to the 3400 block of Pleasant Grove and Holmes reference a shooting. upon arrival a 31 year old male victim was found deceased and a 32 year old male victim was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries. the shooting is still being investigated.
Lansing Police Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators are currently investigating the incident to determine the events which led up to the shooting. More information will be made available as it is obtained.
