UPDATE: Man in custody in connection to fatal shooting near Jackson

UPDATE: Michigan State Police say a man is in custody in connection to a fatal shooting near Jackson. He was found after being injured in an altercation in the city Sunday afternoon.

Police found 30-year-old Raheim Rahhman Armstrong Sunday afternoon, after he was injured in an altercation in the city.

State Police say the severity of Armstrong's injuries is unclear.

Jackson Police tell FOX 47 News they were called to the 400 block of West High Street early Sunday afternoon for a shots fired report. Officers say Armstrong was arrested in the 1300 block of First Street.

Police were searching for Armstrong as a person of interest in the murder of 32-year-old Ronald Demetrius Owens. Owens was found with a single gunshot wound to the head in the 200 block of West South Street near the intersection of Jackson Street in Summit Township around 10 p.m. Friday.

Owens was brought to the hospital in critical condition, but later died from his injuries.

Michigan State Police are searching for a man they consider armed and dangerous following a fatal shooting Friday night.

Police say 30-year-old Raheim Rahhman Armstrong is a person of interest in the shooting. He is described as a 5’ 11” black male weighing 180 lbs. Police say Armstrong is possibly driving a dark-brown colored Chrysler Sebring or Chrysler 200 four-door.

Investigators believe drugs may have been a factor in the shooting.

Police were called to the 200 block of West South Street near the intersection of Jackson Street in Summit Township around 10 p.m. Friday. When police arrived, they found 32-year-old Ronald Demetrius Owens on the sidewalk suffering from a single gunshot wound to the head.

Owens was brought to the hospital in critical condition, but later died from his injuries.

Owen's family tells us he was the father of four children. His oldest son said he will remember his dad as a great man, who was always there for him, "He said he was going to my last game, and now he got killed. Today was my last game."

The mother of Owen's two older childre said Owens never bothered a soul, only cherished his kids, "he has four kids without a dad for no reason."
