The Ingham County Sheriff's Office has identified the victim in a multi-vehicle crash that shut down I-96 between Williamston and Webberville for several hours on September 19, 2016.
18-year-old Mitchel Arthur Kiefer of Northwood died in the crash when the car he was driving on westbound I-96 was rear-ended and went into the eastbound lanes of the highway.
Kiefer was a freshman at Michigan State University.
The Sheriff’s Office said the crash remains under investigation and didn't release any other details.
