LANSING, Mich. — West Side Beer, a family owned beer distributor in Michigan since 1965, on Wednesday delivered 15 pallets of hand sanitizer to the State Board of Elections in Lansing. The hand sanitizer was donated by Anheuser-Busch and will be distributed to polling places across Michigan ahead of the Nov. 3 election.

“We’re proud to partner with Anheuser-Busch so voters and workers at polling places across Michigan have access to hand sanitizer to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and ensure a clean and safe voting booth,” said A.J. Mathews, president of West Side Beer. “For voters who want to cast their ballot in person this November, we want them to do so with confidence knowing their polling places will have plenty of hand sanitizer available.”

Anheuser-Busch first began producing and distributing hand sanitizer earlier this year to help accommodate the growing need for critical resources among its employees, partners and communities in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. This spring, the brewer donated more than 500,000 eight-ounce bottles of hand sanitizer to community organizations – including emergency management agencies, food banks and health care systems – across 20 states and Washington, D.C.

“As a leading U.S. employer, Anheuser-Busch is committed to uniting our communities, strengthening our democracy and encouraging even greater participation in the political process. One part of this commitment is shifting our production capabilities to donate hand sanitizer so that election officials and voters throughout the country can take part in a safe election this fall.” said Cesar Vargas, chief external affairs officer at Anheuser-Busch. “We like to say that ‘beer is bipartisan’ and we are proud to step up and serve our communities during this election season.”

West Side Beer Distributing services more than 3,300 retailers in 15 counties out of its distribution facilities in Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Lansing and Romulus.
