Today the Whitmer for Governor campaign began airing its first TV ad of the general election. The 30-second ad, titled “Battles,” focuses on Whitmer’s time battling an insurance company that denied her mom’s chemotherapy when she was dying from brain cancer.
AD SCRIPT: “This is where my mom was treated for brain cancer. It was so hard. I had a newborn baby at the time, a new job, and was spending hours fighting the insurance company to cover my mom’s chemo. A lot of you have faced those same battles. Bill Schuette thinks insurance companies should be allowed to deny coverage to people with pre-existing conditions. I don’t. And as governor, it’s you I’ll protect, not them.”
The commercial will begin airing on broadcast and cable TV stations across Michigan starting today.
