LANSING, Mich. — Work has started on former governor Rick Snyder's official portrait.
The oil-painting will be on display in the state Capitol building.
Joshua Risner, an artist who lives in the Grand Rapids area was chosen to create it. He tells us it's his biggest project to date and an opportunity he's wanted for the last three years.
"In some way I'm connected to his legacy. I'm now going to be one of the artists they talk about and hopefully will be in the building for hundreds of years and that's pretty exciting," Risner said.
The former governor chose Risner as his artist following a custom that dates back more than a century.
The portrait will be unveiled later this year.
