The local outbreaks are mostly caused by H1N1 flu viruses.
It is recommended by the CDC to get a flu vaccine before it begins spreading in your local community. It takes about two weeks after vaccination for antibodies that protect against flu to develop in the body, so the CDC recommends to get vaccinated early in fall before flu season begins.
