Michigan State University's Office of Institutional Equity has cleared its former faculty athletic representative of a sexual harassment complaint.

Carter said the investigation stemmed from a relationship she had 25 years ago.

She said she is pleased about the decision and support she received from family, friends, faculty and students has been very "gratifying."

"I am pleased that Michigan State University’s Office of Institutional Equity has cleared me of allegations made in this hurtful, unwarranted, and concerted attack that came immediately after I resigned in protest as Faculty Athletic Representative over the University’s handling of the Larry Nassar crimes and the brave survivors."

Carter resigned as faculty athletic representative from MSU in January in the wake of Nassar's sentencing. She is still working at MSU as a professor.
