Miss Michigan caused a stir when she introduced herself during the 93rd annual Miss America pageant Sunday night.
"From the state with 84 percent of America's freshwater but none for its residents to drink, I am Miss Michigan, Emily Sioma," she said.
The 24-year-old Grass Lake native caught a lot of people by surprise by referencing the Flint water crisis during her introduction.
The moment lit up social media, with some folks applauding Sioma.
