Mobile ticketing begins for Red Wings games at LCA; paper tickets not allowed

Make sure you have your phone if you're headed to the Detroit Red Wings home opener on Thursday. Beginning Thursday, the team will implement mobile ticketing for the season.

It was announced back in July, but we're giving you a reminder now that the season started. The Detroit Pistons have also implemented the policy in an effort to protect fans from fraudulent and counterfeit tickets.

The mobile ticketing will be from Ticketmaster's technology, and allows fans to use their mobile device as a ticket. It's been adopted at arenas throughout the country, and reduces the chance of fraudulent tickets, allows for convenient online transfer and retail, and a user-friendly platform.

Those who don't have access to a smartphone will have to call the Little Caesars Arena Box Office at 313-471-7929 in advance or visit the box office on game day to get your tickets.

With the change, all PDF tickets, either printed or copied on a mobile phone, will not be accepted as a method of entry for Red Wings or Pistons fans at LCA.

The teams say to use the District Detroit app to store Red Wings mobile tickets and the Detroit Pistons app for Pistons mobile tickets.
