With the stay at home order in place, we're all spending more quality time with our family. However spending all our time together can create more conflict and stress, especially if you and your partner aren't on the same page.
Nick Lange, marriage and family therapist with Lifeologie Grand Rapids, shared some tips on how to handle conflict in quarantine .
Lange says constant communication is key, but it's important to remember that having conversations when the other person is stressed could lead to arguments. There are six ways to practice reducing stress in conversations:
- Practice soft-startups
- Practice Self-Care
- Establish and maintain a new routine
- It takes two people to have an argument
- Check in with each other throughout the day
- Be flexible with each other
