A year after Alexandra Brueger, from the Holly area, was murdered; the killer has not been arrested.
Her mother believes early information that was given out by Michigan State Police may have derailed the investigation.
“They hurt the case in the beginning when they said that they felt that it was someone that knew our daughter Ally that murdered her,” said Nikki Brueger to 7 Action News.
She adds people with tips would have believed the case was solved.
Last fall, State Police requested assistance to watch for people who were:
-Acting out of character
-Took an above average interest in the case
-Were becoming more anti-social
-Changing their appearance.
Ally lived with her parents. She was 31, worked as a nurse and was an avid runner covering 10 miles a day. She was shot while jogging on July 30, 2016 in Rose Township.
Detectives took her computer, cell phone and other belongings and followed up on hundreds of leads.
“It’s extremely frustrating because as you know we have no closure. We don’t know why this happened, who did it. Some puny repulsive coward shot her in the back 4 times as she was running away,” Nikki Brueger said.
One man who had his life turned inside out as a suspect by investigators publicly issued a threat that he was going to sue whoever gave police his name.
Nikki says that also could cause people with information to not come forward. But people can and remain anonymous by calling Crimestoppers, 1-800-SPEAK-UP. The reward for information leading to the killer's arrest is now up to $13,000.
