MEXICO CITY (AP) — Mexico's president says that he spoke with U.S. President-elect Joe Biden by phone and that both “reaffirmed our commitment to work together for the good of our peoples and our countries.”
Biden’s transition team says the two discussed migration, apparently with a focus on President Andrés Manuel López Obrador's theme of developing jobs and opportunities so that people won’t have to migrate.
The phone conversation occurred Saturday, five days after López Obrador sent a tardy letter of congratulations to Biden.
Biden also pledged to build border infrastructure "to facilitate a new orderly and humane approach to migration."
