City Hall issues absentee ballots

Posted

Even though election day isn't until Tuesday, voters are making sure their voices will be heard.

East Lansing city hall opened its doors this morning for absentee voters to cast their ballots.

Saturday morning, the city broke its own record for absentee ballots issued, surpassing the total for ballots issued during the 2016 presidential election.

"It is absolutely incredible that we're seeing this large turnout of voters, it's very exciting to my staff and I to see this much involvement in the elections, it just makes it all worthwhile to see this high turnout," said East Lansing City Clerk Jennifer Shuster.

Absentee voters can apply for ballots through Monday, November 5th. Ballots must be returned to the city clerk's office by 8 p.m. election day.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 6th.
