Candidates spent every last minute trying to get out the vote.
Whitmer made the final stop on her tour Tuesday afternoon in Detroit.
On Tuesday morning, Whitmer cast her ballot in East Lansing where she told News 10 she’s satisfied how the campaign has gone.
"I feel really good about the campaign we ran. We stayed focused on the issues that matter to Michigan families. and I'm just gonna stay focused on solving problems. I hope everyone gets out and votes today," Whitmer said.
A last-minute poll from Mitchell Research and Communications showed Whitmer and Stabenow both in the lead.
