Michigan's Democratic Party and House Democrats are asking that a candidate end her run for a state House seat following allegations of embezzlement while she worked at a law firm.
House Democrats' Campaign co-chairs Kristy Pagan and Kevin Hertel said Monday in a statement that Jennifer Suidan's "only appropriate response" is to suspend her campaign for the 39th House District, which covers parts of Oakland County.
The Southfield-based Goodman Acker firm says at least $100,000 was embezzled from the campaign of Oakland County Treasurer Andy Meisner while Suidan worked for the company.
No charges have been filed. The Associated Press was unable to find phone numbers for Suidan or her campaign Monday.
Republican Ryan Berman and Libertarian Anthony Croff also are running for the 39th District seat in the November general election.
